It's sad how just about every tuk tuk, motorbike and other tourist transportation driver resorts to selling illicit drugs and/or "boom boom" if you decline a ride with them. I met one tourist one night from Holland who was heavily under the influence of alcohol. He came to me asking for help, saying he paid a local a couple hundred dollars for some cocaine. I felt sorry so I went outside and found a guy who he claimed to be the dealer. He spoke little English but I tried to reason with him to get this unfortunate tourist his money back. The local (Cambodian) acted like he had no idea what I was saying. He then started to become angry and shouting. My reaction was to raise my voice. I told him I was calling the police. This is when he quickly fled on a motorbike. This is one of many occurrence where locals take advantage of tourists. It's an extreme problem around Asia. Some locals grow up even at a young age selling drugs or tricking you into giving them money. This becomes their lifelong nightmare and they really don't have a way to escape it. I feel like they are 'bad guys' but then I think they may not know any different and they need money for their means of life.
Since I'm coming to the end of my travels I went to the market and bought a couple more shirts for about $7 each. I must have got food poisoning the other day cuz I ended up throwing up. Bryson felt woozy as well. Saigon is very busy, but the people we encounter ate friendly. I did see a guy jump off his bike, walk across the street and start talking with this young scandalously dressed girl. She then hoped on his bike and took off. Its sad to see how open and accepted it is here.
The war museum was an uncomfortable feeling with all the negativity reward the US army and their' puppets'. It taught me a lot admit both sides even through the museum was anti America. I've been reading a lot admit the Vietnamese war and I can say I'm disappointed with America but at same time I'm proud to be an American. Workout getting into detail there were many pros and cons that came from the way. We may not have gone about it the correct manner but there was definite good that came from parts of it. There were also a lot of evil individuals on both sides from the US dragging the dead behind tanks to others sacrificing their lives to save local families.
And a special thamks to Bryson for putting up with me all this time. Hes been an amazing travel buddy and even better friend. I'll always be thankful for what he has taught me.
